Oxycontin, A Nightmare Waiting To Happen?

My Oxycontin Legacy

Patient C. Yeovil District Hospital

Patient C was another elderly lady who suffered the indolent, uncaring behaviour of the nursing staff of Yeovil District Hospital, and let us not forget that the attitude and behaviour of the lower echelons of staff within this hospital, is condoned by the upper echelons, as previously stated.

Angela Dupont MBE The Chair of the Board of Governors; Gavin Boyle Chief Executive, and Medical Director Stephen Gore!

Continuing with the story of Patient C who was a post surgical patient in a weakened state, just beginning her recovery, after several weeks of illness, followed by surgery.

This lady was able to make her way to the washrooms with some help, and had been waiting for over an hour, for a member of nursing staff to come and assist her with the journey down the corridor, which although short in distance, was extremely tiring for her, along with the fact of her being prone to dizziness and falls.

Feeling unable to wait for assistance any longer, she decided to attempt the journey herself, and was successful in reaching the washrooms, and performing her ablutions, but felt extremely dizzy and nauseous, and unable to make her way back alone.

She rang the call bell to request some help; she rang and rang and rang, for 45 mins, and nobody came to answer her call!

The other patients on her ward, becoming uneasy at her long absence, and knowing her vulnerability, went to look for her, and found her in severe distress, unable to make her way back.

They duly escorted her back to her bed, and then angrily confronted the Ward Sister, who assured them she would report the incident.

No more was ever heard about this matter!!!!  What would have happened do you think, if those two good Samaritans had not done the nurses’ job for them?

Another body in the morgue? It doesn’t bear thinking about!!
